Taylor Swift and Whitney Houston both had number one hits recently
This week’s most popular song on Billboard’s Hot 100 list is Taylor Swift’s “Is It Over Yet?” The song quickly rose to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, displacing another of the singer’s songs, “Cruel Summer,” which topped the chart for two weeks in a row. Swift’s rise to the top of the list of the most successful female artists of all time is aided by the addition of another chart-topper to her resume.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Swift’s “Is It Over Yet?” is her eleventh number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100. She is currently tied with Whitney Houston for fourth place among female solo artists with the most number ones after her most recent number one. Swift was on par with Janet Jackson until this week’s release of “Is It Over Yet?” She had finally overtaken that renowned person.
Among solo female superstars, three other ladies rank above Swift. Mariah Carey holds the record for the most No. 1 by a female artist with 19. Next in line is Rihanna with 14, then Madonna with 12, and then Cher with 10. The Supremes, a girl group, had a dozen hits during their time together.
When all artists are included in this compilation, the ranking changes, but Swift is still gaining. The Beatles hold the record for most No. 1 songs in America with 20. As of right now, she is ranked behind Drake (13), Michael Jackson (13), and the aforementioned ladies (all 5).
To date, in 2023, “Is It Over Yet?” is Swift’s third consecutive No. 1 single. Early in 2022, her blockbuster “Anti-Hero” reclaimed the top spot on the Hot 100. She worked tirelessly for weeks to get “Cruel Summer” to number one, four years after its first release.
Swift’s new album, 1989 (Taylor’s Version), includes the new No. 1 on the Hot 100. The re-recorded version of 1989 also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and generated the most revenue of her career.
